The information obtained from physical fitness testing, in combination with the individual�s health and medical information, can be used by athletes to help achieve specific fitness goals.

The type of testing done includes:

  • Body composition assessment: refers to the relative percentage of body weight that is fat and fat-free tissue.

  • Body mass index: is used to assess weight relative to height and is calculated by dividing body weight in kilograms by height in meters squared.

  • Tests for cardio-respiratory fitness: related to the ability to perform large muscle, dynamic, moderate-to-high intensity exercise for prolonged periods. Performance here is determined by the athlete�s state of respiratory, cardiovascular and skeletal muscle systems.

  • Postural assessment

  • Flexibility

  • Musculoskeletal assessment
